The PFLAG Jason Dockins Memorial Scholarship was awarded for four years to the following honorees:
Zachary Bomberger was awarded the 1st Annual Jason Dockings Memorial Scholarship. Zach graduated from Council Grove High School and attended Kansas State University. He shares the views of Jason that LGBT persons are asking for equal rights, not special rights.
Timothy Williams of Overland Park was awarded the 2nd Annual Jason Dockings Memorial Scholarship. TIm attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City majoring in Biological Sciences.
Emily Magness was awarded the 3rd Scholarship in May 2017. She graduated from Blue Valley Southwest High School and will be attending Wellesley College in the Fall, majoring in History. She was a leader in the GSA at her school and helped create a diversity assembly which was very successful. She expressed support for LGBT students at the assembly.
Shelby Wilson was awarded the 4th scholarship in May 2019. She graduated from Lawrence High School and is now attending Johnson County Community College, majoring in psychology. She was a leader in the Total Equality Alliance, a youth-led advocacy group for LGBTQ students and allies at LHS. Shelby was highly recommended by the group's sponsor.

Major businesses are rated with a green, a yellow, or a red tag to give an indication of their level of concern for their customers and their employees. Check before you buy!
The You Tube "It Gets Better" Project- Dan Savage started the It Gets Better Project. GLBT people from all walks of life, some famous, some not, tell their stories of how it was hard when they were younger, but how it does get better when they get older. Children and teens who are struggling with their own identities can find comfort from these stories in which people reveal how it DOES get better.
Family Acceptance Project (FAP) is a community research, intervention, education, and policy initiative that is affiliated with San Francisco State University. FAP is the only project of its kind, that studies how family acceptance and rejection affects the health, mental health, and well-being of LGBT youth. Dr. Caitlin Ryan, PhD, ACSW is the director.
